Throughout the city we have many places we refer to as greenspace. Many of these greenspaces are neglected areas that conceal trash, the foundations of buildings long gone, undesirable invasive plants, hazards and hidden dangers. The practice of simply letting nature reclaim land is not conducive to attractive or usable greenspaces. A proactive restoration approach must be taken to restore these greenspaces into assets that enrich the neighborhood.
The goal of the Fineview Greenspace Restoration Project is to develop and implement a greenspace restoration plan designed to restore and enhance the greenspaces in the Fineview neighborhood located on the north slope of the Allegheny River Basin. Scenic Pittsburgh is restoring these properties into usable greenspaces that will be valuable assets to the Fineview neighborhood.
Fineview has spectacular view of Pittsburgh. These views include Downtown, Strip District, Lawrenceville, Polish Hill, Hill District, Manchester, Mount Washington, and the West end and are a pleasant walking distance from Downtown. Scenic Pittsburgh believes once this area is restored, this Fineview scenic overlook will be as famous and desirable a destination as Grandview Avenue or the West End Overlook.
